Nursing is as much a calling as it is a career path. Many people become interested in the profession because they feel a need to help people. As Val Saintsbury once said, “Nurses dispense comfort, compassion and caring without even a prescription.” Nurses do more than giving medicine and treat wounds. They care about their patients and help improve their lives and disease outcomes.
As a nurse, you will definitely have a positive effect on the lives of your patients, but that is just one of the reasons to become a nurse. From job security and flexibility to competitive salaries, there are plenty of other reasons why nursing is a rewarding occupation.
At Midland College (MC), the Associate Degree Nursing (A.D.N.) program is fully accredited with the Texas Board of Nursing as an intense, high-quality program that prepares the graduate for an entry-level position in the field of nursing. The Associate Degree Nursing program offers two options; the traditional program track is a full-time, 4-semester program and the LVN to RN transition track is a full-time, 3-semester program. Both programs will prepare nursing students to apply to the Texas Board of Nursing to participate in the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN).
