What are Visual Arts?

Visual arts courses provide you with practical experience in painting, photography, drawing, digital imaging, interface design, book art, figure drawing, modeling and simulation, sculpture, and more. The major will enhance your understanding of art both within the history of culture and as individual human achievement.

A major in visual arts prepares you for further training as an artist, teacher, or architect, as well as in related fields such as advertising or design. Department offerings emphasize the analysis and articulation of visual concepts and processes as they relate to a broader education in the humanities and sciences.

The Midland College Arts Department offers a wide range of classes. We have something for everyone, from students just starting out in pursuit of an art degree to more experienced artists looking to expand their skills. We even have classes that would be perfect for those with no art experience, and students from other areas of study hoping to add some creativity to their lives.

Midland College provides students the opportunity to study the subject and transfer to a 4-year university through its Visual Arts program.
